This is a massive volcano which takes up 75% of the entire area of Maui. There is a National Park surrounding the crater and there is a challenging walking trail along which you can enjoy watching many rare species of plants lovely rock formations, gulches and volcanic pools. Viewing the sunset and sunrise from atop the mountain is an experience in itself and many people climb up the difficult trail just for this beautiful view.
The environment in Maui is pretty laid back and relaxing and most of the restaurants on this island are very appropriate for romantic dining. One site that you must visit when in Maui is the Nakalele Blowhole. It is located half a mile past the marker 38 where you will find a large turnout. The fantastic site of the Nakalele Blowhole is 1200 feet below from the road. Make it a point to go here during the time of high tide when you will find water shooting 50 to 75 feet into the air straight up.
